Wolves, Raptors & more...
November 1: Today we spent the day with Mission:Wolf at Mohonk Mountain House as their Northeast tour nears its
completion, it was a spectacular day. I will be posting images of the wolves taken at the Queens County Farm and Mohonk
Mountain House. I'm having some issues with internet connectivity as soon as the connection is stable I will publish the
images.

November 2: A very busy raptor day in our Queens neighborhood. Today there was a Cooper hawk, a very large and
light colored migratory Red-tailed hawk, a Peregrine Falcon and Mama all passing through the central section of our hawk
families territory during a three hour span. Mama also spent some time on one of her favorite tall buildings near this years
nest earlier in the day.

November 3: Mama was sitting for a short time on one of the tall apartment buildings chimney stacks late this morning. We
didn't see any of our hawk family for the remainder of the day.

November 4: Mama was sitting on top of her favorite tall apartment building near this years nest. Papa was also in the
area soaring. There appeared to be many Cooper's hawks in the area as the Bluejays were very busy complaining for most
of the afternoon. One Cooper's hawk landed on top of a flagpole in the area. Of course I didn't have a camera with me
today.

November 5-6: We didn't search for our hawk family on these days.

November 7-23: My Internet access issues seem to have been resolved over the last couple days, the issues went from
bad to worse and it took almost the last three weeks to get it resolved. So unfortunately I wasn't able to make updates to
the website during this time due to very poor or no connectivity.
I am summarizing the news events of the last few weeks here to get up to date and I will resume posting daily updates
regularly from this point forward. Two weekends ago all within three hours we spotted a very light colored migratory
Red-tailed Hawk, a Cooper's Hawk and a Peregrine Falcon near our home they all stayed for a short time before moving
on. Mama and Papa have been more active in the central section of their territory soaring and keeping a watchful eye on
things these past few weeks. Mama has been sleeping frequently on her favorite fire escape as the colder temperatures
have set in to the region. There have been a number of migratory Red-tailed Hawks passing regularly through area as well,
only on a few occasions did Mama or Papa vocalize in a mild effort to have the migratory Red-tails continue on their way.
Cooper's Hawks have returned, we have seen many juvenile's in and around the area of Mama and Papa's territory, Mama
and Papa don't seem to be bothered by them being around for now. On Friday the 21st one of Mama and Papa's fledglings
was hunting Pigeons a few blocks East of this years nest. This morning it was exciting to see a Sharp-shinned Hawk on the
hunt in the central section of Mama and Papa's territory, it didn't stay long enough for me to capture an image. I will be
archiving the October news soon and also working toward posting some new images in the Galleries over the next week.
November 24- 30: I will have to summarize recent events to catch up once again, I will keep the November updates
separate from the December's updates. The Sharp-shinned Hawk returned on the 24th to continue hunting in the area. We
have not seen it since, although it's probably still be around. We've had numerous and regular observations of the juvenile
Cooper's Hawks in Mama and Papa's central territory as well as a number of visits from at least one Kestrel. Mama has
spent a number of late mornings and early afternoons sitting on the chimney of a tall apartment building in the central
section of their territory. She has also been sleeping on her favorite fire escape regularly. We have not seen Papa of late,
hopefully he's okay. We have also spotted one of this seasons fledglings a couple of times, it appeared to be fledgling
three.
