August 6-7: We searched for many hours on these days and still haven't been able to find any members of our hawk
family. There were no new signs that they have been around, we hope they are all okay. It is unusual that we have not
seen Mama or Papa flying overhead at some point during the day or located on one of their favorite tall buildings.

August 8: We found many fresh signs that our hawk family was around today, however, we have not been able to spot
any of them. We haven't seen the first two fledglings for a while now, they seemed to have drifted off further to the South
which is a difficult area to search for the youngsters, we can only hope they are fine. Later in the afternoon we spotted the
third fledgling on top of an apartment building roof ledge further to the North East. It looked fine and after twenty minutes of
observation from a good distance it took off after a late day meal.
August 9: Once again we found many fresh signs that our hawk family was around today and like yesterday we have not
been able to spot any of them. In years past it had always been a challenge to find the parent hawks during this time of
relaxation for them, however, we have never had such a difficult time finding the fledglings.
August 10: Finally, we find Papa this afternoon flying around in his favorite area a few hundred yards South of his 2008
nest. He looks great, we have still not spotted the fledglings or Mama in a while even in her favorite spots.
August 11-16: We were not able to search for our hawk family on these days.
August 17: My wife was able to search for our hawk family today and found many fresh signs of some of them being in the
area South of their 2008 nest. Unfortunately, she couldn't find any of them visually.
August 18-19: We were notable to search for our hawk family on these days.
August 20: My wife was able to search for our hawk family today and found many fresh signs of some of them being in the
area South of their 2008 nest. Unfortunately, she couldn't find any of them visually.
August 21-22: These are my first days out and only for a brief time to search for our hawk family in over a week after
being out of commission for a bit. We found many fresh signs that our hawk family was in the area, however, once again we
didn't spot any of them visually on these days. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep the website up to date over this period
either, I have now updated my notes from August 8th to date so all the news is now current. We will continue to search for
our hawk family, provide updates on their well being and daily activities as always.
August 23-25: We were not able to search for our hawk family on these days.
August 26: Finally we spot Mama for the first time in weeks. She was sitting on top of her favorite tall apartment complex
watching over her territory about 6pm.
August 27: Fledgling three was soaring near our home and being chased and harassed by two Kestrels. The fledgling
didn't appear to be very bothered by the Kestrels, however, on a few occasions the fledgling made some spectacular
maneuvers tossing its talons at the Kestrels. The Kestrels were persistent for about fifteen minutes before finally moving on
and the fledgling proceeded towards this years nesting area and out of sight.
August 28: We weren't able to search for our hawk family today.
August 29: Mama and Papa were sitting on top of a local office building, one on each corner of the building facing to the
East. They used this building extensively last year to watch over their family and view their territory. There was no signs of
the fledglings today.
August 31: Today we were able to get a really close look at Mama for the first time in over a month. She looked a bit
thinner than we are used to seeing her, otherwise she looked great. I didn't have my camera with me today so no new
images of Mama were taken. We haven't seen the first two fledglings now for some time. They were very strong and
confident raptors very early in the season and they seemed to be favoring a territory more to the South. It is very difficult to
search for them in that neighborhood so we hope they are doing well, we will continue to look for them as best we can. The
third fledgling continues to favor the region near this seasons nest, however, it also has extensively expanded its territory
as its two siblings. Luckily for us it's favoring a region that is much easier to search than the region its siblings appear to
have chosen. We continue to look for all three fledglings and their parents, this year was the earliest season that the
fledglings extensively expanded their territory and have become very difficult to track on a regular basis. Sometimes we can
walk for miles and search for many hours and only find signs that one or more of them were around at some point during
the day. I will continue to make daily updates regarding our hawk family and I will be posting new images of other wildlife as
well in the Photo Galleries.
August 30: Fledgling three was hunting and spending time in and around the area of this years nest. This past seven days
we have also observed Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, American Redstarts, Common Yellowthroat, Black-and-white
Warblers and Orchard Oriels in the area
