Sept 1.  We were not able to search for our hawk family today.
Sept 2.  I spent a few hors today observing Papa. I was not able to find the rest of the family. When I located
Papa he was in a tall Oak tree watching for a meal. He moved to a number of different trees in the general area
in pure silence. As he flew into his fifth tree in a span of 30 minutes he had his meal. He took his meal to three
different tress before he settled in to eat. Papa seemed very relaxed as he enjoyed his late afternoon meal
over the course of 25 minutes. Papa then moved to another branch in the tree to rest. I will be posting new
images of Papa from Sunday later this evening. I will also be archiving the recent news for the month August in
the next couple of days, it can be located via the

Sept 5.  Ivy and Chief enjoyed themselves flying together today. We had not seen them in a couple weeks and
it was good to see them doing well. They spent a good amount of time together soaring and play fighting with
each other. Please enjoy the new photo of them soaring together on
Page 16 of the Raptors Gallery. I will add
additional images of them tomorrow.

Sept 9.  We were not able to search for our hawk family today.
Sept 10.  The weather interfered with searching for our hawk family today.
Sept 11.  The heavy rain prevented us from searching for our hawk family today. Tomorrow the weather is
supposed to be great and hopefully we can find our hawk family.
Sept 12.  We had seen three members of our hawk family today. Unfortunately, no mew images to post as all
the sightings were either far away or a brief appearance. This morning we observed one of the youngsters in
search of food. We could not identify who it was as it disappeared behind the trees quickly and didn't reappear.
Later in the day far off in the West section of the territory we had seen Mama and Papa.
Sept 13.  Today we spent most of the afternoon with both Chief and Papa. Chief was sitting prominently on a
solid Oak tree branch. He didn't leave this spot until a batch of Blue-Jay harassed him a couple hours after we
had first observed him today. Papa about 100 yards further South West of Chief just finished eating a Pigeon.
He was digesting his meal in one of his favorite Oak trees. A while later he moved about 30 feet to a Maple tree
where he spent the rest of the afternoon. Papa alert to all that moved around him cleaned his beak a number
of times and stretched his wings during this time but seemed otherwise content to sit and rest. We didn't see
Mama or Ivy today. Please enjoy new images of Papa and Chief in the Raptors gallery on

Sept 14.  We were not able to search for our hawk family today. I will be adding new images of Papa later today
in the Raptors gallery. Please enjoy images of Papa and Chief from Thursday in the Raptors gallery on

Sept 15-17.  We were not able to search for our hawk family on these days. We did have a Peregrine Falcon fly
over our home on Saturday. We also had a visit on two days from a Ruby Throated Hummingbird feeding in our
yard. We have also noticed over the last week the following birds appearing: Yellow-Rumped Warbler,
Chickadee, American Red Start, House Wren, Carolina Wren, Red-Bellied Woodpecker with their young,
Sept 18.  During the two hours of searching for our hawk family this afternoon I had seen a number of fresh
signs the hawks were around. At one point I spotted one of the hawk members flying very high in the South
East area of their territory. During my continued search I also spotted a Black-throated Blue Warbler and
another beautiful bird I'm still attempting to identify. On my way home I spotted Mama sitting on top of a very tall
apartment building in the central section of their territory, I will post new images on Wednesday.
Sept 19.  We were not able to search for our hawk family today. However, this morning we did see a
Red-breasted Nuthatch in our yard. The other bird that I was still attempting to identify from yesterday was most
likely a Black-and-white Warbler. I didn't have time to post the new images from Tuesday, I should have them
posted Thursday.
Sept 20.  We were not able to search for our hawk family today. I have added new images of Papa from last
week to the Raptor Gallery
Page 17.
Sept 21.  We found Mama today, for a short time she sat in a tall tree before flying of to soar high in the sky.
She had a full crop and there were fresh signs of recent meals in the area. We didn't see the rest of our hawk
family. Flickers, Mockingbirds and Robins were abundant. Also over the last week the Monarch butterfly has
been in migration, numerous Monarchs can be seen all around the area. I have added new images of Mama to
the Raptor Gallery
Page 17.
Sept 22.  Due to the rainy weather we didn't search for our hawk family today. Hopefully the weather Sunday
will be nice as predicted so we can search for and obtain new images of the hawks. Please enjoy the latest
images of  images of Mama and Papa in the Raptor Gallery

Sept 23.  During our search for our hawk family we only found Mama. She was soaring very high in the sky and
eventually proceeded away from us to the Western section of her territory.

Sept 27.  We were not able to search for our hawk family today.
Sept 28.  We spotted Mama very late today as she was flying toward the Western section of her territory. I
wasn't able to get any new images it was to dark for photography. Mama flew low over and behind the tree lines
as she most likely proceeded to a spot to sleep for the evening.
Sept 29.  I found Papa this afternoon just after he caught a Squirrel for an early dinner. He flew just over my
head and landed in a nearby Oak tree. Papa rested for a while before proceeding to an area that he favors.
Papa landed in a very tall Oak tree and remained there for a while. It seemed that he was going to eat his meal
in this tree but he decided to fly off with the Squirrel to the West, it was difficult to follow his flight as the sun was
directly in my eyes and he flew low over the tree tops. I wasn't able to find the rest of our hawk family today. I
have added new images of Papa to
Page 18 of the Raptors gallery.
Sept 30.  We searched for many hours, unfortunately, the only sighting of our hawks was very brief. One
member soared very high and very quickly out of sight. Our hawk disappeared from sight so quickly we could
not even determine which member we had seen. I have added images of Papa from yesterday to
Page 18 of
the Raptors gallery.
